I think there's a lot of power in being illegible. People not even knowing whether it's experimental or not is kind of cool to me. The experimental-ness is there because I listen to it a lot. The venue that I run here is that, but I also grew up listening to '90s R&B. It's both empowering and discouraging, the way that people write about it. It's confusing.
